I love winding staircases, especially when they are old and gorgeous. In a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina called The Alvear Palace, they had one of these spectacular staircases. It when from the very bottom of the hotel to the very top, about 10 floors. I spent hours running up and down the stairs taking shots from many angles and under different lighting conditions. This image was one of the most challenging to get.
I needed to get the camera over the exact center of the stairwell to ensure the image was centered and symmetric. I enlisted my wife to act as my anchor. She was holding me by my belt as I leaned over the railing looking to center the lens. After numerous shots, I was able to obtain the image that we see here. After the challenge of successfully getting this shot, I enjoyed a nice glass of wine in lobby bar.
If you love stairways and black and white architecture art, this image could make a great addition to your collection in your home or office.
