The Toronto Big Banks make up the bulk of the skyscrapers in Toronto’s city center. Toronto is the financial hub of Canada and its primary banking institutions are: Toronto-Dominion Bank, Bank of Nova Scotia, Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, Bank of Montreal and Royal Bank. The head office towers of these banks are some of the tallest buildings in Canada. Walking amongst these buildings makes you feel as though you are lost in a steel and glass forest surrounded by them. At the right time of day, the setting sun’s colors get reflected between the buildings, and the results are spectacular. The reflective coating on the glass panes then transforms the sun and sky light into a whole range of rainbow colors.

Wanting to capture this moment, I walked amongst the buildings for 1 hour, and I finally came upon this composition. I feel it captures all of the elements that struck me visually when I saw them come together - super tall buildings stretching up to the sky, beautiful reflected colors and most importantly, all 5 of the main banks are in this single image.

So, if you are in the Toronto Banking business or have been to this area before, I think you’ll really appreciate this image.
