When visiting Seattle, the Museum of Pop Culture definitely needs to be on your list. This Black and White version of my colored version of the Frank Gehry masterpiece was commissioned by Microsoft founder Paul Allen and is a building of such beauty and flow it is hard to describe. The overall site of the museum consists of several unique buildings, but this one had a look and shape like no other.
The shell consists of recycled airplane fuselage sheets. It is so absolutely stunning to see. This museum is home to numerous exhibits over the year including Jimi Hendrix and Star Trek. The challenge for me was to try and capture a unique angle of this complex structure that would forever remind me of its shape, flow and color. Walking around the entire complex revealed numerous excellent photo opportunities, but this angle of this particular building left me speechless. The smooth lines, flowing shape and transitioning colors had me thinking I was looking at a spaceship taking off.
It took a while a to get the final shot, but it was well worth the effort. If you appreciate great modern architecture, this image is for you.
