The Prague Astronomical Clock located on the side of the Old Town Hall, is one of the most viewed sights in Prague. The City of Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world in my view has so many wonderful sights to see but this clock is truly special. After many years, I finally returned to this magnificent city with its wonderful architecture, gothic bridges, fabulous restaurants and a river running through it, I finally got to show my wife this city and this clock
This clock was originally installed in 1410, which makes it the 3rd oldest astronomical clock in the world. It still works perfectly. The clock mechanism has three main components — the astronomical dial, representing the position of the Sun and Moon in the sky and displaying various astronomical details; statues of various Catholic saints stand on either side of the clock; "The Walk of the Apostles", an hourly show of moving Apostle figures and other sculptures, notably a figure of a skeleton that represents Death, striking the time; and a calendar dial with medallions representing the months.
According to local legend, the city will suffer if the clock is neglected and its good operation is placed in jeopardy; a ghost, mounted on the clock, was supposed to nod its head in confirmation. According to the legend, the only hope was represented by a boy born on New Year's night.
For this image I focused on just a portion of the clock face, to bring out some of the details. This image is timeless.
