The Prague Castle is in the city of Prague, one of the most beautiful cities in the world in my view. After many years, I finally returned to this magnificent city with its wonderful architecture, gothic bridges, fabulous restaurants and a river running through it. Most importantly, I returned here with my wife, who is the love of my life, and who has never seen it before. Listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Prague is the economic center of commerce for central Europe. The buildings were built during the Romanesque, Gothic, Renaissance and Baroque eras, and they are gorgeous. It takes weeks just to walk around and take in all the unique architecture.
As we walked along the cobblestone streets, crossed bridges lined with statues and made our way through the busy squares where people gather, I could not help but take in the life that was in the air and the life that was touching my soul. Of the many stunning architectural buildings within Prague, the gem in my mind is the Prague Castle, which is still one of the few still working castles in the entire world. I knew that I could not leave Prague without capturing a single image of the castle, the Vltava River and the famous Charles bridge.
After trying many locations, I felt I found the right spot along the opposite side of the Vltava River showing the castle reflecting in the river itself. The image captured here during the blue hour (the time after the sun sets) captures all three of my key elements. The bridge supports are wonderfully lit, but the jewel in this image is the lighting on the castle itself. In the upper center of the image is the magnificent St. Vitus Cathedral, a 14th century Gothic Structure that truly needs to explored for hours. This working castle is a marvel to walk through, as it actually is a mini-city within Prague itself.
This long exposure image converted to black and white, captures for me an excellent rendition of these three key parts of Prague, a city that I have always stated was “one of the most beautiful in the world”.
