This morning scene was taken at the famous gazebo park in Niagara on the Lake (NOTL), a small town near Niagara Falls, Ontario. This picturesque town is known to be one of the most beautiful towns in Canada. While there are many stunning scenes in and around the town, one of the highlight attractions is the Gazebo in the Queen's Royal Park. The park is right on the edge of Lake Ontario and provides a lovely view of the lake, Toronto on a good day and Fort Niagara across the river on the American side. The Gazebo located in the park is used for many weddings and for lovers in general to take photos of them embracing each other. The Gazebo is not only beautiful, but also famous, as it was built for and used in the Movie "The Dead Zone" starring Christopher Walken. When the filming of the movie was complete, they graciously left the Gazebo for the town to enjoy, and how they have.
But I was more interested in creating a large landscape image that would capture the full scale of the scene. This would prove to be a challenge due to the length of the shoreline and Gazebo and the fact that there is not a lot of space to step back and take the shot with a wide-angle lens to capture it all. So, after trying numerous compositions, I chose to take 8 images and stitch them together. The result is a very detailed image that can be blown up quite large and while still retaining all of the detail. With the additional of the birds and sailboat, this truly is a masterpiece of art. For anyone who has ever visited Niagara on the Lake and looking for a unique image to remember it by, consider this image.
