The New York City Skyline is one of the most iconic in the world. Known as the “City that Never Sleeps”, NYC has everything that you ever dreamed of and more. Food, shows, entertainment, culture, Central Park and of course the buildings. If you love modern and “art deco” skyscrapers, there is no other place in the world to see some of the finest examples of these structures.

While on my weekend photo shoot in New York City, the day we were to go up to the “Top of the Rock” at Rockefeller Centre, the sky became overcast. Not to let a good photo opportunity go to waste, we made our way up to the top. Once there, there was some off and on light rain and the dark clouds were moving quickly. The good news was that it kept the number of visitors to a minimum, allowing me free reign to shoot from whatever location I wanted.

While many images were taken, this one stood out my favorite. The dark overcast clouds and some holes of light shining through the clouds behind us, created a fantastic lighting opportunity and the magnificent art deco buildings of New York. As I watched for something interesting to happen, lo and behold some of the clouds that came by were just low enough to cover the very top of the antenna of the New York's famous landmark building. WOW! What a sight. The building height (including the antenna) is 1,454 feet tall, and at one point it was listed as the tallest building in the world.

So, it is only fitting that with this shot we can say “the building is so tall, it touches the clouds”. What a memory.
