Standing at the top of the Summit Tower, I felt like I was standing on top of the world. The view of the New York City skyline, bathed in the lingering glow of the sun dipping below the horizon, was nothing short of breathtaking. The city that never sleeps had come alive in a completely new way, with shadows stretching across the streets, lights flickering to life, and the iconic architecture forming silhouettes against the darkening sky. I knew this was the moment to capture something special.
Armed with my camera and trusty Gorillapod tripod, I searched for the perfect spot. Finding it, I set up and steadied my camera. The goal was to create a dramatic black-and-white image, one that would not only capture the vastness of the city but also evoke the raw energy and resilience of New York. I took my time, framing the shot to include several of the city’s famous architectural icons – their forms beautifully contrasted against the backdrop of the night sky.
The Summit Tower offered an unparalleled vantage point. The experience of being there, breathing in the cool evening air while the pulse of New York beat beneath my feet, was exhilarating. The energy was palpable. Each click of the shutter was a step closer to capturing that perfect shot. I took a series of photos, each one revealing the city in a slightly different light.
In the end, the shot I chose to keep was simple yet powerful: a black-and-white rendition of the city that never sleeps. It’s a constant reminder of the strength, beauty, and endurance of New York – a city that has weathered countless storms but continues to stand tall, its skyline a symbol of hope, power, and resilience.
