Iceland is one of the most unique and special places on earth and has a very special Iceland Green Moss. This small island located between Greenland and Norway is basically made from volcanic rock. Iceland is the only part of the Mid-Atlantic Ridge that rises above sea-level, and its central volcanic plateau is erupting almost constantly. The interior consists of a plateau characterized by sand and lava fields, mountains, and glaciers, and many glacial rivers flow to the sea through the lowlands. It is these characteristics that makes it so beautiful and unlike anything you’ve ever seen. The colors of the black lava, green moss/lichen, and reddish rocks is really something to see.

The green moss that grows in Iceland forms part of a fragile ecosystem. There are over 600 different types of moss growing in Iceland. These mosses are absolutely visually captivating. This image is portraying the subtle vibrancy of the mosses as its shape changes as it grows over the rocky landscape. Also included in the image, is the lava rock that covers most of the landscape of Iceland. Both of these elements combine to form a beautiful scene that is truly unique to Iceland.

This image was taken on the north west coast during one of our day trips. The color green is so vibrant and fresh. Mixed in with the green moss are small purple and pink flowers creating an undulating blanket of beauty. This was an amazing sight.
