Iceland is one of the most unique and special places on earth. Visiting Iceland was one of the most exciting trips I have ever taken, definitely one of those little hidden gems on this planet. Our visit started in Reykjavik, its capital city. It is a fabulous city and is very walkable. There are plenty of sights to see, but one that I did not know about, we came upon by chance. As we strolled along the waterfront we soon came upon a beautiful piece of architecture right on the edge of the shoreline only minutes walk from the downtown core of Reykjavik, the gleaming Harpa Concert Hall.
In another image in my store I have detailed the results of taking the exterior of the Harpa Concert Hall. After taking many photos of the exterior of the building, I was then challenged to try and capture the unique and complex interior of the building’s glass walls and reflective ceiling. I stood in amazement at this stunning ceiling which is an architectural masterpiece. The types of surfaces, colors and reflections were basically mind bending. Capturing what I was seeing was going to be a huge challenge.
This photo was taken using my tripod, aimed straight up to the ceiling and taking a series of images to ensure I can blend the images together in order to get a very detailed result. The colors of the glass and the reflections on the various surfaces were truly unbelievable. It was one of the most ambitious images I had ever tried to capture, and I was very pleased with the result. If you like modern art, this image has it all – colors, shapes and thought-provoking images. You can stare at it for hours trying to figure out what the various elements are. I hope you enjoy this image.
