The Galapagos Islands offer all visitors a truly unique experience when it comes to searching out and observing animals, birds, fish and reptiles from the prehistoric era, including the Galapagos Fur Seal which is a unique species of the Seal family found only in the Galapagos. Darwin used his time in Galapagos to complete his theory of evolution. But to be honest it's really about seeing these untouched species in their native habitat. There are so many different types of birds, iguanas, tortoises and a lot of underwater marine life.
This image was taken on Baltra Island on last day of our Galapagos trip. It was an island that had a beautiful covering of a succulent green vegetation as far as the eye can see covering the lava rock, it looked like a green shag rug carpet. As we walked, we saw numerous fur seals just lying down and relaxing on this very cozy vegetation. I then came upon these two seals, a mother and her pup. As you can see the mother was feeding her pup, and both seemed to be relaxed and totally enjoying the situation. I was able to get fairly close while not disturbing them. The light was filtering through the clouds giving the green vegetation a special vibrant look.
