The night of March 14, 2025, was one I had been anticipating for months—a rare Total Lunar Eclipse was about to unfold in the Northern Hemisphere. These celestial events happen roughly once every three years, and even then, visibility depends on location, timing, and the unpredictable whims of the weather. I knew I had to be in the right place at the right time, hoping for clear skies.
I set up my camera under the midnight sky, nervous about the looming clouds. Would they block my view at the critical moment? The uncertainty was nerve-wracking, but to my relief, as the eclipse began, the sky cleared, revealing the moon in its full splendor. Over six hours, I captured every stage— from the initial shadow creeping in, to the breathtaking Blood Moon at totality, and finally, its slow return to full brightness.
Photographing a lunar eclipse presents unique challenges. The light changes dramatically, requiring precise camera settings. As the moon darkened into its deep crimson hue, exposure adjustments became critical to maintain sharpness and clarity. Every frame had to be perfect—this was a moment that couldn’t be redone.
By dawn, I had an entire sequence of this mesmerizing event, carefully arranged to showcase each phase. Seeing the final composition was pure magic—an unforgettable reminder of this cosmic dance. I feel incredibly lucky to share these images with you, a glimpse into a fleeting moment in time.
